[An offer that's tempting to ignore, if only to save his pride. But, as it is, D33 has found this situation to be rather frustrating. In short, yes. He would like to talk about it. If only to release some of that frustration.]
The stupidity of these natives is positively ludicrous.
[sent quite early in the morning; what is essentially a reading list, comprised primarily of a mix of horror (mostly very American things like Lovecraft, King) fantasy (mostly very British things like Tolkien, Pratchett), and speculative fiction (a wide variety with no real discernible theme). in addition to the genre fiction is a section devoted more to what you might call the classics, and Magnus' "shadow" bias seems to be obvious there, with books like One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Fahrenheit 451 and A Clockwork Orange predominating. there are also a few graphic novels featured, all more serious things like The Sandman and Watchmen]
[The message catches D33 off guard. It's true that he hasn't seen the girl in a few days, now - maybe some part of him had been considering that this could be the case. Even so, this might actually be the first time D33 has ever experienced someone he knows being Ported out, much less someone he cares about (whether he'll admit so or not).
[Either way, he responds promptly.]
I see.
[He's really not sure what else there is to say on the matter - nothing he'd be quite willing to say, anyway. He's certain to come up with some questions later on, but as for right now, he'll settle on this one:]
Are you alright? I suppose this must be difficult for you.
[More than supposes - there's really no question as to whether or not Kaneki cared for Nill. He may as well care for everyone.]
[ doing laundry. That's all he wanted to do. It's not a difficult task, it's a task Kaneki has done many times before and one that doesn't even require mental exercise because they have a washing machine to do this. All he has to do is to put colors to one side, blacks to another, whites to other, fill the machine with detergent and then softener, and press a button. Easy.
Except when he was placing the whites and blacks and colors to different sides, somewhere in the middle of it, he fell asleep. Well, "falling asleep" might not be correct because this is kaneki's body shutting down after he hasn't slept for days (as usual).
He won't know how he got there, but kaneki is sitting on the ground, leaning against the washing machine, while he holds on to a white shirt and he is sort of sleeping (that very much looks like a coma to anyone who passes by). ]
[Sure enough, when D33 happens to pass by the laundry room (in search of Kaneki, as it just so happens), he's a little alarmed to see the ghoul passed out against the washing machine. As far as D33 knows, Kaneki doesn't sleep, so the first thing that D33 does is drop to his knees and immediately start checking for a pulse. He does, upon closer inspection, notice the man breathing, and he's surprised to hear a sigh of relief leave him. Next, he's running a hand through Kaneki's hair, brow furrowed with concern as he asks:]
[Charles's name brings about a familiar hesitation in D33, but, seeing as Kaneki and he are rather close and that D33 is (now, officially) Kaneki's companion, he supposes that he will have to get used to the man eventually.
[Still, he has his reservations, but...]
If that is what you would like, Kaneki, then I will attend, of course.
[There's a pause.]
I take it that this "Thanksgiving" is another one of this world's holidays.
[Which, honestly, only brings about more hesitation in D33, but if Kaneki is going to be there, he'd rather join him than spend the night without him.]
[The cheerful greeting belies Klavier's slight guilt at falling back on that silly nickname, especially when D33 himself has already started calling him by his first name. But the dehumanizing nature of "D33" makes his stomach turn when he thinks too hard about it. That's why he refrains from using it altogether, for now.]
As luck would have it, I suddenly have a lot more free time this month. A perfect opportunity to take an evening, get some instruments together, and introduce you to the joys of music, ja?
["Herr Barista". Now that's certainly a new one. "D33" is the name attached to his posts, the name on his file reads "Dylan McAvoy", and those close to him appear to call him "Dee".
[Normally, the man would never choose to respond with audio, but given his current predicament and the fact that that's how Klavier has chosen to begin this interaction, he thinks it only appropriate to respond in the same matter.
[When he speaks, his words come out slow and unsure.]
Hello...
[There's a pause.]
Forgive me, Mr...Gavin?
[He's reading the name attached to Klavier's message.]
I believe that the name I typically use is "Dee-thirty-three". Have you contacted me by mistake, or is "Herr Barista" a moniker that I use as well?
[Wait. He should probably explain--]
Ah. My apologies. I suppose this might sound odd, but it seems as though I am having trouble...recollecting as of late.
Truthfully, I'm quite confused with the entire ordeal.
Hey kiddo. I hear you're having some troubles with that nasty stuff going around this week, so I figure you don't know who I am anymore, but that's alright. Have some free advice:
Do yourself a favor and don't tell anyone else your name.
[ A pause. Jesse has sort of rehearsed in his head what he wants to say, but now the line is open and he's now put on the spot... Jesse isn't sure what to say. Or, more accurately: He isn't sure how to approach D33 now he knows... things about him. Awful things. Things that aren't D33's fault in any way, and things that make Jesse see this guy in a whole other light now. ]
[Perhaps D33 should have been expecting this, and yet-- Well, what reason did he have to suspect such a thing, really? He suspected well enough that what he'd seen had belonged to the man - what other Jesse did he know? - but that doesn't lend to any reasoning as to why Mr. Pinkman would be contacting him now.
[Unless, of course, he knows somehow that D33 knows.
[There's plenty going through his head as he hears the man's voice, its hesitation. But he won't mention anything until Jesse does. Perhaps he'd simply crossed him during his impaired state last week. With his memories back - and more, it would seem - he, of course, is back to responding via text only. That way, there's no suspicion to convey through his voice - though, it will likely translate either way.]
